APP2022 goes Hollywood with latest presenter

APP2022 organisers, The Pharmacy Guild of Australia, today announced that Academy Award-nominated screenwriter and novelist Luke Davies will be joining the speaking line-up at the Australian Pharmacy Professional Conference & Trade Exhibition (APP) held 24-27 March 2022 on the Gold Coast.

Luke will be addressing attendees during the Harm Minimisation stream on the afternoon session of Saturday, 26 March.

Faciltator of the Harm Minimisation stream, Angelo Pricolo, said he was thrilled that Luke Davies would be presenting and was looking forward to learning from his first-hand experiences.

“Luke’s best-known works include Candy (a story of love and addiction) as well as the film Lion, which earned him a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay”, said Mr Pricolo said.

“Candy, an autobiographical account of how Luke lived through his 20s addicted to heroin, was later adapted into a movie with the same name that starred Australian actor Heath Ledger”.

“Luke was able to get out of his downward spiral, in part, by the relationship he maintained with his community pharmacist.”

Luke’s session will provide attendees with a first hand account of how pharmacists are assisting patients in the ORT program.

His presentation will be complemented by experts in the harm minimisation field, including Addictions Medicines Specialist, Dr David Jacka.

The stream will explore the use of licit and illicit drugs (and habits) and the mechanisms available to pharmacists to keep communities safe from vices such as smoking, alcohol consumption, prescription and other drug use. Attendance is inclusive for all full and day delegates.

Early bird registration for APP2022, which allows delegates to save over $100, closes this Monday, 24 January.
APP2022 offers a 100% COVID Refund Guarantee, whereby attendees not able to travel to APP2022 due to COVID-19 restrictions will be entitled to receive a full refund.
