Chris Owen appointed new president of The Australian College of Pharmacy
The Australian College of Pharmacy Board annual elections were held last week to appoint officer bearers for 2019-20.
As a result of the election process, the Executive of the College comprises:
Chris Owen — President
Rick Xynias — Vice-President
Matthew Harris — Director of Finance
Dr Treasure McGuire
The newly elected President Chris Owen is a pharmacist with over 10 years’ experience in in operational and strategic management roles within the healthcare industry.
Chris’ passion is to support the development of all pharmacists including those in rural practice and ‘next-gen’ pharmacists.
As a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors he brings his experience to the College in corporate governance, compliance and risk management.
Chris Owen said he was thrilled to be appointed to the Executive and welcomed the new executive committee.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank outgoing President Dr Treasure McGuire for her service and contribution to the College, both as a board member and President.
“I would also like to thank outgoing board members Sue Holzberger, Des Williams and Marina Holt for their contribution to the College and in supporting exceptional education for pharmacists.
“On behalf of the newly appointed executive, I look forward to continuing the quality work of the College in delivering cutting edge pharmacist education.
