Fires in three states – Pharmacists’ Support Service available to help
With fires raging in Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia there are sure to be some pharmacists impacted with property loss, evacuation, disruption to services or even loss of life.
The Pharmacists’ Support Service (PSS) would like to remind all pharmacists, pharmacy interns and pharmacy students affected in any way that the Service is available to support them both now and in the future.
PSS can offer a listening ear and someone to talk through the impact of the fires and how they are feeling.
All PSS volunteers are pharmacists and so can relate to the challenges faced by members of the profession during a disaster.
PSS is available on 1300 244 910 every day of the year between 8.00am and 11.00pm AEDT
John Coppock, PSS President, said:
“We live in a country prone to natural disasters such as fire and flood but when these events occur and you are involved it can cause a lot of distress. After the acute situation the stress can be ongoing as even with full insurance, the sense of grief and loss and the work of rebuilding can take months to years to resolve, this impacts on both pharmacy owners and staff.”
The Pharmacists’ Support Service (PSS) is available to provide a listening ear from 8am to 11pm AEDT every day of the year.
Call 1300 244 910 for anonymous and confidential support from a pharmacist colleague over the phone.
