Global search for innovation: Learnings for Community Pharmacy in Australia

Exploring how Australian pharmacies can benefit from innovative pharmacy practices overseas will be the focus of a key session at this year’s Australian Pharmacy Professional Conference and Trade Exhibition (APP2020) on the Gold Coast in March.

Presented by Community Pharmacist and 2018 Churchill Fellowship Recipient, Lucy Walker, the session will detail the findings of an international pharmacy study tour undertaken by Ms Walker in September/October 2019.

The study mission, which encompassed Sweden, Germany, Scotland, England, Ireland, USA, Canada and New Zealand, was conducted with the aim to bring innovative global pharmacy practises to Ms Walker’s rural community and to improve services nationally.

“The Fellowship was an awesome experience; I met many fantastic pharmacists and saw a variety of practices around the world,” Ms Walker said.

“I focused on professional services, technology enablers and education of all the team.

“I look forward to sharing the highlights of my journey with my friends and colleagues at APP2020”.

Ms Walker is the owner of TerryWhite Chemmart Goondiwindi and winner of Guild Pharmacy of the Year 2017. Ms Walker also sits on the advisory board of TerryWhite Chemmart and is a member of the Pharmacy Guild’s Queensland Branch Committee and the Guild Member Services and Innovation Committee.

The session, ‘Global search for innovation – learnings for Community Pharmacy in Australia’, will be held at APP2020 on Thursday 19 March at 12.15pm.
