PATY 2024: Final chance to nominate!

2024 award judge, Cindy Hume, has said this Friday was the final deadline for anyone wanting to nominate for The Pharmacy Guild of Australia/Maxigesic Pharmacy Assistant of the Year Award (PATY) 2024. The opportunity to self-nominate closes tomorrow, Friday 17 May.

PATY is the premier award for Australian pharmacy assistants and is now in its 18th year. It recognises and celebrates the ‘best of the best’ in community pharmacy.

Ms Hume said that with the third-party nomination now closed, tomorrow’s deadline was the last chance pharmacy assistants could participate.

“The opportunity to self-nominate ends tomorrow, I would hate to see anyone miss out on the opportunity to take part in this year’s award,” Ms Hume said.

“It really doesn’t take much time at all to nominate,” said Ms Hume, “the new online process consists of a few boxes to tick and then five questions, all completed online.”
Ms Hume also said past participants she spoke to had really enjoyed participating in the PATY process.

“Many of previous year’s participants have really enjoyed being part of the PATY experience,” said Ms Hume, “PATY allows participants to get involved in the broader community pharmacy setting and meet peers from across the country.

Recent PATY winner Colby Diek agrees with Ms Hume, “Pharmacy assistants being acknowledged for what they do and what they contribute to the industry is just incredible. If you get nominated in 2024, do it. There is nothing to lose; you’ve got everything to gain!”, said Ms Diek.

Ms Hume said the prizes on offer this year are also a huge motivator to get involved.

“The state winners receive access to exclusive training and development sessions, return flights and accommodation for the National Judging Workshop on 5 September in Sydney, complimentary registration to the Pharmacy Assistant (PA) National Conference (5-7 September), an invitation to be a judge in their respective PATY2025 state workshops, as well as recognition in national industry publications,” Ms Hume said.

“The national winner receives a cash prize of $5,000, complimentary registration, return flights and accommodation for attendance at APP2025 and PA205 and an invitation to participate in the 2025 National Judging Workshop.”
