Records Broken for the Pharmacy Assistant of the Year Award
More than 450 pharmacy assistants were nominated in the 2015 Pharmacy Assistant of the Year Award – breaking all previous records for the event.
The number of responses to those nominations also broke previous records, with 260 pharmacy assistants entering the award – a 25% increase.
Pharmacy Guild of Australia National President, George Tambassis said he is thrilled to see pharmacy assistants are being recognised.
“Pharmacy assistants are the frontline of community pharmacy and the contribution they make to each store is vital,” Mr Tambassis said.
“It’s wonderful to see the encouragement these pharmacy assistants have received from their employers, colleagues and the wider pharmacy industry, to keep up the good work,” he said.
National Key Account Manager for Award sponsor GuildSuper, Maria Martignoni said they are looking forward to meeting the State Finalists over the coming months.
“As the major sponsor, we always look forward to this part of the award process,” Ms Martignoni said.
“Entering an award like this takes a lot of courage. We’re very proud to be involved with a program that recognises pharmacy assistants who take the extra step in their career,” Ms Martignoni said.
State Finalists will be invited to a Workshop Training Day in their capital city. From there, a State Winner will be chosen to represent their State or Territory at the National Finals held at the Pharmacy Assistant National Conference on the Gold Coast in October.
The National Pharmacy Assistant of the Year Winner will take home more than $10,000 in cash and prizes, including a Guild Training course of their choice so they can continue to progress their career.
Check the Pharmacy Guild of Australia Facebook page for State Winner announcements throughout July and August.
