McLaren Vale Pharmacy Assistant To Represent South Australia

Local pharmacy assistant, Andrew Morgan from McLaren Vale Pharmacy has been chosen to represent South Australia at the National Finals of the 2016 Pharmacy Guild of Australia/GuildSuper Pharmacy Assistant of the Year Award (PATY).

Pharmacy Guild of Australia Training Manager and National PATY Judge, Ms Deborah Scholz said this year the award is celebrating ten years of recognising ‘the best of the best’ pharmacy assistants in Australia, and received over 580 nominations.

“The PATY Award was created to recognise pharmacy assistants who not only go the extra mile to help their customers, but are also proactive in developing their careers. In doing so, they encourage others to strive for success and actively contribute to the community pharmacy industry,” she said.

Judges picked Andrew Morgan from 10 other state finalists at a recent state workshop where each participant had the chance to demonstrate their pharmacy knowledge and showcase their skills in customer service and leadership

“Each candidate displayed a strong commitment to their work and the industry, which was a pleasure to see – it was a hard task to pick just one, but Andrew really shone,” Ms Scholz said.

Andrew Morgan was a delight to be selected as the South Australia finalist on Friday.

“What an honour! Although it hasn’t really settled in yet, I still feel like I might wake up at any moment!” Andrew said

General Manager of GuildSuper, Ms Teresa Mills, said the organisation is pleased to be the major sponsor of the award and to support the successful futures of pharmacy assistants.

“The calibre of PATY nominees is always extremely high, which is a great indication of the outstanding pharmacy assistants that make the difference to so many lives, in our communities, every day.

We’re very proud to be involved with the program that recognises pharmacy assistants who not only take the extra step in their jobs, but also in their career.

“Congratulations to Andrew Morgan for her achievement as the Tasmania winner, I am sure he will represent McLaren Vale and South Australia with pride!” Ms Mills Said

Teagan Crawford will represent Tasmania at the National Finals to be held at the Pharmacy Assistant National Conference on 28 October at the Gold Coast. The National winner will take home over $10,000 in cash, prizes and rewards.
